Growth through reflection.

Growth.. What is growth.

Growth is often talked about in terms of what we have achieved or acquired. But growth can also look a lot different.

Sometimes it can look like going from turning to alcohol during a stressful situation to going within and doing things that make us happy.

Even something as simple as noticing how we would handle a previous situation to what we do different now.

The kind of growth that becomes so second nature we forget to even acknowledge it.

It was made aware to me today that we forget how much we’ve grown in terms of how we handle stressful or upsetting times in our life and It got me thinking, 10, 5 well maybe even 2 years ago I might have dived head first into a pit of negative self talk, followed by a bottle of wine to numb it all.

But I’ve noticed now I just want to be home, cooking for my family, cleaning, studying, starting my day with a morning walk and finishing it with a sauna before bed and I realised these are all the things that make ME happy. And then realised how differently I handle these situations compared to how I used to.

And that right there is the GROWTH I’m celebrating today.

It may look different for you. Maybe you don’t take other people’s behaviour as personally as you once did. It could be talking about whats going on for you and not isolating yourself

And a big one, realising you need support and actually asking for it.

Growth can happen so subtly that we don’t even notice the change until it’s pointed out to us.
